Job Title Inspector Location DALLAS 75247, TX US (Primary) Job Type Full-time Mission / Position Description Summary The mission of an Inspector for Chelliah Consultants, Inc. dba HVJ, a leading specialty engineering firm in Texas is to support the Project Manager or other staff as directed to assure client satisfaction following the applicable standards, specifications and company guidelines. This includes responsibility for: Perform inspection as assigned and/or testing if needed Meticulously document work performed in an organized fashion. Provide support to Project Manager as directed Perform duties in safe, cheerful, efficient and workman like manner. Key Accountabilities Timeliness/Punctuality Additional Key Expectations Observes and inspects ongoing construction work. Reviews plans and specifications to ensure that work is in compliance with same. Inspects barricades to ensure compliance with barricade standards. Reports work progress and discusses construction related problems with project manager as needed. Assisting with training for less experienced personnel may be required. Compute and record areas, volumes and cost extensions. Prepare Daily Work Reports in Site Manager. Coordinate testing with labs daily/as needed. Working knowledge of construction including materials, methods, plans, procedures and specifications, associated safety requirements, and knowledge of construction materials testing procedures. Ability to communicate and work effectively with clients. Working knowledge of TxDOT construction specifications and standard drawings. Ability to maintain organized field and office records. Ability to perform quantity and engineering computations. Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications. Ability to document deficiencies and deviations from plans and clearly communicate this information to supervisors as they arise. Key Criteria / Requirements Possess High School Diploma. Minimum of 15 years of construction inspection experience. Ability to lift concrete, soil, or asphalt samples as a routine part of the job up to 75 lbs. Ability to tolerate year round outdoor work and nighttime work. Willing and able to travel. Valid Texas Driver’s License. Have ACI Field, SB 102 and Level 1B certifications preferred. Ability to acquire related certifications based on assignment.
