Job Title: Science Teacher (Grades 9-12)


Purpose: Provide an educational atmosphere; be a role model for students; develop students in both the cognitive and affective domain; help students develop an appreciation and understanding of scientific thinking.

Responsible to: Building Principal

Qualifications:

1. Kansas Teaching Certificate

2. Major emphasis of study of field taught

3. Knowledge in the field

4. Understanding of appreciation

General responsibilities:

1. Instruct the student in reference to the concept guidelines for that course; develop, maintain, monitor goals and objectives for each course.

2. Carry out duties as outlined in the district and building handbook.

3. Present career information to students.

4. Develop and assist in upgrading science curriculum by monitoring current trends.

5. remain current in the field through course work, readings, and seminar participation.

6. Invite public participants through speakers and field trips as needed.

7. Keep an accurate record of attendance and grades.

8. Supervise students in a non-classroom setting.

9. Display mutual respect between student and teacher. Two way communication with high goal emphasis.

10. Display a cooperative attitude toward other staff members.

11. Maintain two way communication between teacher and principal.

12. Inform public in regard to activities in the classroom.

13. Willingness and flexibility to adopt new teaching strategies into their classroom.

14. Prepare students for local, state, and national summative assessments.

Term of Employment: As per negotiated teacher agreement

Payment Rate: According to Certified Salary Schedule

Evaluation: Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education Policy of Certified Personnel.
