Job Title Breakfast Cook Department Market Grille FLSA Non‑Exempt General Function Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service. Prepares various breakfast foods for the Hy‑Vee Market Grille and is responsible for all hot foods and cold foods, including available heat‑and‑eat varieties. Core Competencies Partnerships Growth mindset Results oriented Customer focused Professionalism Primary Duties and Responsibilities Provide friendly customer service, greeting customers and learning their names, addressing them by name when possible. Assist customers with product location, secure out‑of‑reach items, and pass customer suggestions to appropriate staff. Answer telephone promptly and provide helpful service. Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure satisfaction and a pleasant work environment. Prepare cooking surfaces and ingredients; place food in hot cases, monitor amounts, and refill as necessary. Prepare items for upcoming shifts. Maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation procedures; ensure work area is neat and clean. Adhere to personal hygiene, dress and company policies. Report to work on time per schedule. Be knowledgeable of all menu items and able to take orders. Secondary Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct customer service when necessary. Order product and supplies or notify department head of needs. Assist in other areas of store as needed. Perform other job related duties and special projects as required. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics Must be able to solve practical problems, interpret instructions, perform simple arithmetic, understand and follow verbal or written instructions, and request supplies orally or in writing. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Up to six months of similar or related work experience. Physical Requirements Must be physically able to exert up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions. Working Conditions Fast‑paced work environment with exposure to cool and warm temperatures, dampness, noise, and vibrations. Possible hazards from slicers and choppers. Daily exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents. Equipment Used Grill, toaster, coffee machine, oven, steamer, chopper, hot case, kitchen utensils, knives, stove, chicken roaster, can opener, and CARs reordering system. Compensation and Benefits Hourly wage: $14.00 to $17.50 depending on experience. Benefits available. Employment contingent upon successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen.
