General Summary

The LPN is responsible for providing quality nursing care, including medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education, all while adhering to ethical guidelines and safety protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety policies such as infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a safe care environment.
• Perform ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and support clinical decision-making.
• Collaborate closely with supervising RNs or shift managers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data accurately to support clinical outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, healthcare team members, patients, and families to improve care experiences and outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage in continuous learning to develop critical thinking and nursing skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program is required.

Experience

One year of practical nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Certification and Licensure

• Current LPN license valid in the state or through compact licensure.
• Graduate Practical Nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and stooping.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
