Diesel Technician / Mechanic

We are offering a $5000.00 Sign on Bonus for a talented Diesel Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Hodgkins, IL.

Please note - We will be moving to a new facility in Granite City, IL as of 6/22/26.

You will make an impact in the following ways:

• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
• Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
• Maintain own tools

External Qualifications and Competencies

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls
• Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools
• Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation
• Proficient knowledge in troubleshooting Cummins electrical and aftertreatment using Cummins Insite.
• Proficient work experience in replacing internal components (head, pistons, liners, etc.).
• Embrace the Cummins values and use them daily.
• Reliable and a self-starter with a positive attitude that contributes to the team.
• Customer focus mentality.
• Follow and maintain the DOT requirements needed for this position if a CDL is held.
• Union shop.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Education, Licenses, Certifications: Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred) Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution Locally valid driving permit (Preferred) This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Experience: Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
