Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Job Summary
Our highly rated and growing therapy practice is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and clinically skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. The SLP will provide comprehensive speech-language pathology services, including evaluations, treatment planning, direct therapy, progress monitoring, caregiver education, and clinical documentation. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, professionalism, and a commitment to evidence-based, individualized care.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluation and Treatment
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations and re-evaluations using standardized and informal assessment measures, clinical observation, and caregiver input.
- Interpret assessment results, determine clinical needs, and develop individualized plans of care with measurable short- and long-term goals.
- Provide skilled, evidence-based treatment for articulation/phonology, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, social/pragmatic communication, and other communication disorders within the clinician's scope of competence.
- Continuously monitor client progress and modify goals, treatment strategies, and recommendations based on clinical findings and response to intervention.
- Determine and document the medical necessity for skilled speech-language pathology services when applicable.
Documentation and Care Coordination
- Complete accurate and timely evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, plans of care, re-evaluations, and discharge documentation.
- Maintain documentation that clearly reflects skilled intervention, client response, progress, and continued need for services.
- Educate families and caregivers regarding treatment goals, progress, and strategies to promote carryover and generalization at home.
- Develop appropriate Home Exercise Programs (HEPs) to support functional communication outside of therapy.
- Collaborate with caregivers, physicians, behavior analysts, therapists, educators, and other professionals involved in the client's care.
Compliance and Professional Standards
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, payer requirements, organizational policies, and applicable North Carolina laws and professional standards.
- Maintain required licensure, credentials, and continuing education.
- Demonstrate sound clinical judgment, professionalism, ethical decision-making, and commitment to high-quality client care.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or an appropriate related field.
- Current or eligible for North Carolina licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred. Clinical Fellowship (CF) candidates may be considered.
- Pediatric experience, including experience with developmental disabilities, autism, speech sound disorders, and receptive/expressive language disorders, is preferred.
- Strong clinical reasoning, communication, documentation, organization, and time-management skills.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in a comfortable clinic setting with a private office/treatment space.
- Some physical activity may be required, including bending, sitting on the floor, lifting or moving therapy materials, and participating in developmentally appropriate activities.
