The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a EO/IR Special Technology Engineering Manager (Level K) located in Tukwila or Kent, WA. This is an exciting opportunity for you to manage highly skilled engineers and technicians performing engineering and technical development activities in the areas of electro-optic and infrared systems and materials. Position Responsibilities Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of thin film development and fabrication, optics design, material selection, analysis, and testing, and system level EO/IR modeling and simulation. Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals. Acquires resources for projects and processes, including staffing, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees. Provides leadership and oversight for all people processes conducted within the report groups, participates in skills management, coaches direct reports, and supports a learning and professional growth environment. Location: The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed locations (100% onsite). Security Clearance This position requires the ability to obtain a US Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance and US citizenship. Conflict of Interest Successful candidates for this job must satisfy Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process. Basic Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical) or related fields. 9+ years of work‑related experience with a bachelor’s or 7+ years with a master’s or 4+ years with a PhD. At least one year of experience in a leadership role or completion of the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.” Experience performing analysis on EO/IR systems. Preferred Qualifications Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering or Physics. Active US Top Secret Clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Access. Prior experience leading a team of EO/IR engineers. Prior project management experience. Experience with thin film development and fabrication. Experience designing and testing optical systems. Experience performing EO/IR modeling and simulation. Experience leading cross‑functional teams to resolve complex technical issues. Experience with staffing (hiring or allocating personnel resources). Hands‑on experience with integration, lab testing, and troubleshooting.
