Low Voltage Installer

A low voltage installer (or low voltage technician) sets up, maintains, and repairs electronic systems that run on 50 volts or less, such as data/network cabling, fire alarms, security systems, surveillance cameras, access control, and audio-visual setups.

Core Responsibilities

• Installation: Run, pull, and terminate low-voltage cables (Cat5/6, coaxial, and fiber optics) through walls, ceilings, and conduit.

• Device Mounting: Install system hardware like cameras, card readers, fire alarm panels, speakers, and network jacks.

• Testing & Diagnostics: Use meters and specialized test equipment to verify signal strength, continuity, voltage, and proper network response.

• Blueprint Reading: Interpret architectural blueprints, site layouts, wiring schematics, and engineering plans.

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose faulty wire runs, replace broken parts, and restore offline systems.

• Code Compliance: Follow the NEC and local safety/fire codes.

• Documentation: Log work orders, record cable labels, and update project blueprints or completion reports

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frederick, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
