Scope Of Responsibility This position performs production within prescribed codes, according to prescribed procedures, specifications, and drawings. An applicant will undergo a 2F Evaluation to determine skillset and knowledge base. The candidate must pass a GMAW 2G weld test that meets visual acceptance criteria before being offered the Welder C position. Bend testing will be conducted after the job offer is accepted. Essential Duties Knowledge of general safety guidelines; Sabre-specific safety guidelines will be taught on site. Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE). Works independently with minimal supervision on assignments directed by the Supervisor and displays a strong sense of ownership for work. Flexible and adaptable: switches tasks readily when directed. Awareness of Sabre’s quality expectations and application in the workplace will be taught during onboarding and on-the-job training. Basic understanding of blueprints and weld symbols. Adjusts welding machines within parameters of welding procedure specifications (WPS). Frequently pushes, pulls, and lifts up to 50 pounds. Uses oxy‑fuel torch to pre‑heat parts to be welded in accordance with WPS. Uses GMAW welding process (Spray Arc transfer) to weld components or assemblies. Uses chipping hammer, wire brush, and grinders at various times to clean weld joints and finished welds. Uses magnetic drills to drill various size holes on pole assembly as required by drawings. Visually inspects work to ensure welds comply with applicable drawings and code requirements. Uses a weld gauge to measure weld sizes. Uses mechanical rolling equipment to rotate sections to optimize positioning of weld joints. Performs additional duties assigned by Supervisor and/or Management as knowledge base increases. Maintains regular and on‑time attendance. Maintains a positive attitude. Works your shift as scheduled. Gets along with coworkers. Position Requirements Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Experience: GMAW (Spray Arc Transfer) welding experience preferred. Skills & Abilities Basic math skills required. Must be able to read and write. Ability to read blueprints required. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand 100% of scheduled shift; lift, push, pry, and drag heavy materials up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of bending, stooping, crawling under or over, and occasional climbing of stairs/ladders up to 6 or 7 feet. Must possess adequate hand‑eye coordination, dexterity, and stamina to sustain expected production effectively. Must be able to work in a fast‑paced work environment. Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and handling materials. Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures.
