Location: Selinsgrove, PA 17870

Shift: 1st Shift

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Hours: Part-Time, 24 hours per week

Position Summary:

The Clinical Dietician is responsible for coordinating, inspecting, and evaluating therapeutic diet programs while ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards. This position works closely with nursing, physicians, food service staff, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop, monitor, and adjust nutritional care plans that support patient health and recovery.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Participate in the coordination, inspection, and evaluation of the therapeutic diet program while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Support the goals and objectives of the Dietary Department or Food Services Division.
• Integrate dietary services with clinical and support departments.
• Complete and maintain dietary assessments and reassessments.
• Document progress notes and nutritional assessments within medical records according to established standards.
• Communicate with nursing staff regarding nutritional concerns including tube feedings, diabetes management, and weight changes.
• Chart nutritional progress every 90 days or more frequently as medically indicated.
• Notify physicians of significant nutritional changes.
• Plan, develop, and modify standard and therapeutic diet menus according to physician orders, nutrition standards, cost considerations, variety, and quality.
• Provide guidance and direction to dietetic staff regarding resident nutritional care.
• Instruct cooks and food service personnel on preparation of special therapeutic diets.
• Maintain knowledge of therapeutic diet programs, food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and special diet tray assembly procedures.
• Integrate nutrition services into the overall dietary program.
• Develop and review nutritional care plans consistent with physician orders.
• Consult with speech pathologists and other healthcare professionals as needed.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
• Provide in-service education and training to dietary and allied health staff.
• Complete nutritional discharge plans and patient education prior to discharge.
• Provide nutritional assessments, recommendations, and guidance to healthcare and food service staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completed a Baccalaureate degree from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university, or an equivalent foreign degree.
• Met academic requirements accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association.
• Completed a supervised practice program accredited by CADE/ADA .
• Successfully passed the Registration Examination for Dietitians.
• Maintained Professional Development Portfolio (PDP) recertification requirements.
• Currently licensed as a Dietitian in the State of Pennsylvania.
• Advanced-level clinical knowledge with the ability to work independently.
• Recognized as a resource for complex clinical nutrition questions within the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Clinical nutrition experience.
• Experience working with therapeutic diet programs.
• Knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
• Experience documenting within electronic medical records.
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Experience developing nutritional care plans and discharge planning.
