Child Nutrition Program Manager
The Barbour County Board of Education is seeking a Child Nutrition Program Manager to report to the Child Nutrition Program Director and School Principal. This is a non-exempt, 9-month contract position based at Barbour County Elementary School in Louisville, AL.
Job Goals:
- To implement child nutrition programs at each school cafeteria to ensure attractive, nutritious meals are served efficiently and in a clean, friendly environment.
- To implement local school and federal guidelines for the Child Nutrition Program (CNP).
- To provide healthy, nutritious meals and food preparation services for students, staff, visitors, and community members of Barbour County Schools.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- Serv-Safe Certification.
- Ability to meet employment suitability criteria.
- Standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Appearance and personal cleanliness suited to food service.
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment.
- Effective people skills.
- Follow CNP guidelines and regulations.
- Use technology as required.
- Physical demands including strength, stamina, agility, dexterity, and acuity.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Punctuality and regular attendance.
- Alternative qualifications as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and assist in preparing and serving meals.
- Maintain efficiency, neatness, and sanitation in food preparation and storage.
- Develop work schedules for absenteeism and emergencies.
- Ensure availability of equipment and supplies.
- Estimate food quantities needed.
- Borrow and transport food from other schools.
- Supervise proper storage of food and supplies.
- Maintain inventory of stock.
- Perform food storage, inventory control, equipment cleaning, and sanitation tasks.
- Operate food service equipment according to procedures.
- Assist in any CNP activities as assigned.
- Maintain professional dress and hygiene.
- Observe safety precautions.
- Cooperate with school staff to maintain high standards.
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
- Participate in training and educational programs.
- Engage in professional growth.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Identify and report potential problems.
- Respond to inquiries and feedback.
- Submit reports and records timely.
- Use and care for school resources.
- Serve on school committees as required.
- Collaborate effectively as a team member.
- Support school goals and priorities.
- Adhere to school rules and regulations.
- Report absences and take leave as per policies.
- Ensure security of cafeteria revenues.
- Attend manager’s meetings.
- Prepare nutritional and fiscal reports.
- Keep accurate records.
- Understand and follow instructions from supervisors.
- Attend job-related training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
While performing this job, the employee regularly sits, stands, walks, and uses hands to handle objects. The employee frequently talks and hears. The employee occasionally reaches, climbs, bends, stoops, squats, crouches, and kneels. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include near, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Performance will be evaluated according to the Board’s policy on personnel evaluation.
