Bus Van Driver (District Pool) - 26/27 SY

Definition Under general supervision, operates a district van to safely transport students to and from school or throughout the city for Sunnyside Unified School District and McKinney Vento programming. Tasks Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify proper working order of the van. Transport students to and from school, field trips and other outings according to schedule and safety guidelines. Maintain discipline on the van and prepare necessary discipline reports. Maintain mileage and student count log; prepare accident, incident, and maintenance reports as needed. Write and record repair orders; clean and fuel van. Maintain communication and effective working relationships with parents, staff and other drivers. Participate in random drug testing and perform related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics Knowledge of District policies and procedures. Knowledge of motor vehicle and passenger transportation laws. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety procedures. Skill in operating and driving a van. Skill in monitoring students and maintaining order while driving. Skill in following oral and written instructions. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Physical Requirements Work performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work requires frequent driving, walking, and standing, sitting, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to moving equipment, extreme weather conditions and infectious diseases. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid AZ driver's license and clean driving record for five (5) years. Requirements Upon offer of hire, the following items included in the requirements for the Commercial Drivers License and Arizona School Bus Driver Certificate must be met: Pre-Employment drug test Pre-Employment physical Physical Agility Test Successful completion of Driver's training program Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
