ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care for patients in critical condition. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in intensive care settings and be proficient in a variety of medical procedures and patient management techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and coordinating treatment plans.
• Assist with invasive procedures, including chest tube insertion/removal, intubation, and line placements.
• Manage and maintain ventilators, BiPAP, and HFNC for respiratory support.
• Administer blood products and manage IV therapy, including starting and maintaining IVs and managing central lines, including PICC lines.
• Implement infection prevention strategies and maintain isolation precautions as required.
• Interpret dysrhythmias and manage cardiac complications in patients with multi-system organ dysfunction.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care teams, collaborating with physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, and other support services.
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Meditech or other required charting systems.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU setting is required.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS (preferred).
• Strong skills in respiratory and thoracic care, including management of ventilated patients and high flow nasal cannula.
• Knowledge and experience in managing chronic and acute renal failure.
• Experience with neurological assessments, specifically in CVA and acute stroke management.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple patient needs effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients and families.

Work Environment

The nursing team operates within a 16-bed ICU and Progressive Care unit that provides care for patients with various critical conditions, including those requiring pressor support, sedation, thrombolytic therapy, and electrolyte replacement. The unit has a daily census of 8 patients and adheres to a patient ratio of 1:2.

Schedule

• Shift: 3x12 hours, night shifts (19:00 - 07:30).
• Weekend coverage: Every other weekend required.
• Holiday rotation: Required.

Additional Information

• Floating to medical-surgical units may be required based on staffing needs.
• A professional appearance is expected, with scrubs of any color permitted as long as they maintain professionalism.
• Parking costs are not applicable.
