Health Information Specialist 1 -Onsite

Job Overview This entry‑level role is responsible for processing all releases of information (ROI), specifically medical record requests, in a timely and efficient manner while ensuring accuracy and the highest quality customer service. The associate must safeguard patient privacy, ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to medical information and that all releases comply with the request, authorization, company policy, and HIPAA regulations. Position Highlights Onsite position in Bellevue, WA Full‑time, Monday‑Friday 8:00 am‑4:30 pm Front‑desk processing of medical record requests – customer service focus Full benefits: PTO, health, vision, dental, 401(k) savings plan, and tuition assistance Opportunities for growth locally and nationwide Responsibilities Receive and process patient health information requests following company and facility policies. Maintain confidentiality and security of all sensitive information. Use company and facility software to track requests and records. Adhere to the company and customer facilities Code of Conduct and policies. Report work status, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes to the manager. Assist with additional duties as required. Apply medical privacy regulations consistently to prevent unauthorized disclosure. Manage and safeguard patient health records, ensuring HIPAA compliance. Prepare new patient charts and gather documents from paper or electronic health records. Assemble medical records in standard order and verify accuracy. Create digital images of paperwork for electronic storage. Respond to inbound and outbound calls and email requests. Assist patient walk‑ins and administrative tasks such as handling faxes, opening mail, and data entry. Meet productivity expectations specific to the site. Schedule pick‑ups when required. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Strong customer service and clerical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel). Comfortable working in a high‑volume production environment. Ability to work independently and respond to changing priorities. Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with phones, fax machine, printers, and general office equipment. Professional verbal and written communication skills in English. Detail‑oriented with a focus on accurate and compliant medical record handling. Strong data entry skills. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks. Willingness to learn and grow within Datavant. Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points) Experience in a healthcare environment. Previous production or metric‑based work experience. In‑person customer service experience. Ability to build relationships with on‑site clients and customers. Comfortable bringing new ideas, process improvement suggestions, and feedback to stakeholders. Pay Hourly: $17.13 – $20.92 USD, depending on location, responsibilities, skills, experience, and other requirements.
