Scientific Data Researcher for Translational Science

Position Objective: Provide services as a Scientific Data Researcher in support of the overall functions of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This role is supporting NCATS scientists engaging in high content screening experiments by advising on optimal equipment, control layout and performance, and assay conditions required to generate data that is reproducible.Duties and Responsibilities:Prepare a draft written description of the analysis procedures, the findings, the limitations and the proposal for follow-up experiments. 1Conduct data storage, and record keeping.Perform data retrieval and entry using multiple IT systems. 2Prepare, maintain, document and operate research tools and technologies. 3Perform required quality control steps as needed.Develop protocols into SOPs for use in training material. 4Attend laboratory meetings; present findings to staff. 5Conduct research including planning, and conducting experiments and data analysis in the LaboratoryPerform required quality control steps as needed.Develop protocols into SOPs for use in training material.Attend laboratory meetings; present findings to staff.Conduct computerized searches of library references, scientific publications and other databases; extract, consolidate and organize pertinent materials.Use the computer to cross reference design and repeat experiments and research before preparing findings for publication.Keep abreast of current research projects and to determine research assistance and information support.Meet with lab members to present updates.Basic Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Biology or similar field of studyExperience in MATLAB, R, Linux, Unix, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPointSkilled in Data PresentationsPreferred Qualifications:Strong communication skills, both oral and written.Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required by this position.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
