About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Epic experience - Patient ratio experience Description: Shift will be from 7 AM to 7 PM. Weekend coverage is every other weekend. Unit does not accept first-time travelers. Preferred community hospital experience. Travel experience is required. Patient diagnoses include COPD, pneumonia, non-specific abdominal pain, cellulitis, and chest pain rule out. Required skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response/code teams, and blood product administration. Candidates must have experience in central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, and PICC line management. The role includes starting and maintaining IVs, managing cerebrovascular accidents, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal. Non-invasive airway management skills such as BiPAP/CPAP management and high flow nasal cannula experience are essential. Candidates should be familiar with isolation precautions and personal protective equipment. Knowledge of telemetry on-unit monitoring is also required. Additional skills include wound care, phlebotomy, and heparin protocols. The unit has a daily census of around 20 patients with a total of 25 beds. Staffing ratios are 1:6 during the day, 1:7 at night, and 1:8 on weekends. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Candidates will be floating as required.
