Department : Assoc VP For Administration. Salary : Commensurate with Experience. Has overall responsibility for developing, writing and editing internal publications. Disseminates material about university research, academics, activities, events and awards. Responsibilities Researches university programs for potential story ideas to generate positive public interest and identifies appropriate outlets for specific story interests. Maintains regular contact with university and college administrators concerning ongoing academic and related programs; maintains regular contact with college faculty to keep abreast of on-going research, teaching and service activities in order to generate story ideas. Conducts interviews and thoroughly investigates selected activities to write stories for various internal publications. Develops and implements strategies/plans for conferences and other particularly significant programs or events; develops communications plan to overt potential problem. Identifies, researches and writes feature stories for university magazine(s), including photo and illustration planning and editing. Provides work direction and guidance to interns. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Key Responsibilities Design, research, and write technical and program-related news and feature stories for print and web. Collaborate with departments to gather materials and organize written communications; support updates to chatbots and websites. Determine content needs, select and research subjects, conduct interviews, and ensure factual accuracy. Plan and edit departmental publications, websites, and electronic newsletters. Provide writing and editing services for other communication projects as assigned. Research university programs for potential story ideas to generate content for regular updates of program websites and printed materials. Qualifications MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Additional Job Posting Information Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.
