This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys balancing hands-on problem solving, technical design, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.As a Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to the full product lifecycle — from concept development and detailed design through testing, validation, manufacturing support, and product improvement. You’ll work closely with engineering, program management, quality, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions that meet customer and business needs.What You Will DoDesign and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems to meet performance, cost, schedule, and manufacturability requirementsCreate and maintain engineering documentation, including 3D models, 2D drawings, bills of materials, specifications, test plans and reportsPerform engineering analyses such as tolerance stack-ups, structural or thermal evaluations, material selection, failure analysisSupport prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigationsCollaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program leadershipEvaluate design changes and implement improvements to enhance reliability, producibility, and cost efficiencySupport transition from development to production, including manufacturing readiness and issue resolutionEnsure designs comply with applicable internal standards, customer requirements, and industry regulationsParticipate in design reviews and present technical findings to internal stakeholdersEducation & Experience RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering disciplineSome relevant mechanical engineering experience (an internship or more)Experience with 3D CAD modeling and drawing creationStrong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&TExperience supporting product development, testing, and design validationStrong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skillsEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environmentU.S. Citizenship required.Taking care of our people is a top priority at Leonardo DRS.
