Key Responsibilities\n- \n

- Engage with clients to develop pre-crisis and crisis plans, providing direction in behavioral guidelines, risk assessments, and medication management, ensuring all documentation aligns with regulatory standards. \n
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community partners to implement effective positive behavior support plans, enhancing the overall quality of care. \n
- Actively participate in licensing and accreditation processes, promoting best practices in geriatric mental health counseling. \n
- Create strong communication channels with relevant service systems, ensuring seamless transitions in care for clients. \n
- Network with local, state, and federal agencies to promote our programs and explore funding opportunities that support our mission. \n
- Engage in continuous professional development by attending training sessions, conferences, and statewide meetings, thereby fostering personal growth and enhancing the skills relevant to your practice. \n
- Represent the agency in community outreach efforts, effectively promoting our mission and the importance of mental health in the aging population. \n
- Complete all similar duties as assigned by the Clinic Director, contributing to the overall success of our counseling programs. \n
This position specifically caters to the geriatric population, where our counselors work with seniors facing an array of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, and emotional distress due to life changes. The role demands a high level of empathy and cultural sensitivity to effectively engage with clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Qualifications\n- \n
- A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is required. \n
- Current, valid License as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). \n
- A minimum of 4 years of recent experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support is essential. \n
- Demonstrable understanding of ethical and legal standards pertinent to geriatric care. \n
- Strong analytical skills to conduct assessments and develop personalized treatment plans that cater to the unique needs of older adults. \n
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster rapport with elderly clients and their families. \n
