Veterinary Medical Field Officer - Parx Racetrack

Overview Become a Veterinary Medical Field Officer with the Department of Agriculture and help safeguard horse health and racing integrity. In this role, you will oversee medical procedures, observe horses before and after races, and support veterinarians and inspectors. Responsibilities Race Oversight: Observe horses before, during, and after races and determine fitness to compete. Medical Supervision: Oversee blood and urine sample collection and supervise bleed medication activities. Emergency Response: Provide first aid, treat injuries, and assist with decisions regarding euthanasia when needed. Record Management: Maintain lists, reports, and documentation for inspections, medications, and veterinary decisions. Regulatory Duties: Assist with disease control, quarantine enforcement, inspections, and investigations under state regulations. Field Coordination: Work with inspectors, veterinarians, and racing officials to ensure compliance with rules and policies. Work Schedule and Additional Information Full‑time employment. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Telework: This position does not offer telework. Salary: The starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases. Qualifications One year of professional experience as a veterinarian and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or a Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) from an American Veterinary Medical Association accredited college or university.
