Job Description Southeast Delco School District Middle School Head Field Hockey Coach District Wide Supplemental Contract- 2026-2027 School Year Essential Duties & Responsibilities Teach and train players on fundamental field hockey skills such as passing, running, shooting, defense, etc. Schedules and attends practices. Ensures each athlete is cleared from the athletic office to participate in practices and games. Works cooperatively with other head athletic coaches to operate a well-balanced athletic program. Collaborates with the Athletic Director and Assistant Coach in preparation of schedules for the team. Recommends to the Athletic Director the type of equipment and supplies needed to conduct the field hockey program and assists the Assistant Coach with inventory and care of equipment. Engages with the parents of the members of the field hockey team in a positive and constructive manner. Understands the signs and symptoms of injuries such as a concussion and removes players that are exhibiting signs and symptoms of injury. Encourages student athletes to set and maintain high standards of behavior on the court and off. Attends and participates in scheduled staff and team meetings. Supervises and collaborates with the Assistant Coach and any potential volunteers. The Head Coach reports to the Athletic Director. The Head Coach is required to attend any PIAA coach meeting. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Minimum Qualifications Demonstration of current knowledge of strength and conditioning programs for field hockey. Assists with the organization and development of the middle school field hockey program. Must be team-oriented, hands-on, and passionate about sports. Prior coaching experience desired. Pre-Employment Requirements Completion of PA State Police Background Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprinting Background Check. Completion of PIAA safety and compliance trainings. Is punctual at all times and ensures that work responsibilities are covered in absence, completing tasks correctly and on time. Safety Regulations Reports all student concerns, injuries, and incidents to the Athletic Department immediately. Anyone who knows of any action, inaction, or misconduct must file a report with the Athletic Department and report such misconduct to their school administrator. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises the Assistant Coach and any volunteers associated with the team. Working Conditions Work may be indoors or outdoors in all lighting and weather conditions, including heat, sun, rain, snow, and ice. Compensation 32 units for the completion of the whole winter season. 1 Unit = $96.00. This position is evaluated on a yearly basis, and evaluations are based on the development of players and the team's overall skillset.
