Senior Underwriter In Consumer Lending In Auto

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Underwriter in Consumer Lending in Auto. Key responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing complex consumer credit applications for auto loans, evaluating credit bureau reports, income documentation, collateral valuation, and other supporting materials. Sound credit decisions must be made within established authority levels using both automated scoring systems and manual underwriting. Decisions and rationale should be communicated clearly to internal partners and customers. Credit files must be complete, accurate, and compliant with regulatory and company standards. Collaboration with internal teams to resolve application issues and provide recommendations is required. Awareness of risk and compliance requirements throughout the underwriting process is essential.

Required qualifications include 4+ years of underwriting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired qualifications include 4+ years of experience in underwriting, loan processing, originations, or closing. Strong understanding of credit principles and lending practices is necessary. Proficiency in reviewing financial documents and assessing creditworthiness is required. Extensive experience in auto lending or consumer finance is preferred. Familiarity with underwriting systems and tools is desired. Strong communication and decision-making skills are essential.

Expectations include working every Saturday with a rotation for Sundays, ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and priorities, and commitment to accuracy, compliance, and customer service excellence. Positions will be remote with a preference of proximity to our hubs in Chandler, AZ or Irving (Dallas), TX.
