Description:
RNs will be expected to complete simulations for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
Every nurse must maintain a sterile field, as this is a frequently performed nursing skill.
If a candidate is not competent in Foley insertion or central line dressing change, they may not be a good fit.
In addition to simulations, education on lifts, restraints, and wound care will be provided, as equipment and policies may vary between facilities.
The unit accommodates various patient types, including patients needing vasoactive drips, vent weaning, and those with CHF, sepsis, and neuro diagnoses.
Common procedures performed include intubations, thoracentesis, and hemodialysis catheter insertion.
Nurses will float to other areas and treat Med/Surg patients as needed.
Nurse to patient ratios will vary based on patient acuity.
Weekend and holiday shifts are required as per unit coverage.
Scrub color and equipment specifics will be provided during orientation.
Strong communication and a willingness to adapt to different patient care environments are essential.
Overall, the position requires flexibility and a commitment to high-quality patient care.
