Duties

Incumbent will be a member of the Medical Service and will participate in patient care, teaching and administrative activities as assigned. They will function as an independent physician provider, and they will provide medical care in the spectrum of their field of training and privileging and in all aspects of patient care including inpatient/outpatient care.

The incumbent will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:

1. Continue and further the development of the clinical programs.
2. Provide patient care in the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System. Incumbent will attend in the outpatient clinic and on the inpatient service as assigned, and other clinical services needed by the Service (focusing on night coverage in the ICU). These clinical responsibilities may include patient care activities with or without trainees.
3. Supervise and teach medical students, interns and residents, and fellows. Participate in the educational activities of the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine.
4. Participate in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and other administrative duties as assigned, including Section meetings.
5. Other Duties as assigned by the section Chief
6. Provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in all clinical settings.
7. Evaluate and triage specialty consults.
8. Obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, recommend, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.
9. Coordinate medical management and care within their discipline with Primary Care providers and other Medical/Surgical services and personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system.
10. Provide on-call services as assigned, usually as part of a rotation with other section physicians.
11. Participate in monitoring the quality, safety, and appropriateness of patient care, both at the Section and facility level.
12. Perform administrative tasks as assigned, including, but not limited to peer reviews, Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE), special projects that help fulfill and/or enhance the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs as assigned by the Chief of Medicine/Chief of Staff/ELT.
13. Participate in the educational programs for section personnel as well as the medical staff.
14. Demonstrate ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organization.
15. Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
