About the role

You’ll lead Gamma's Platform organization as we scale to serve hundreds of millions of users. This means overseeing the critical systems that power everything—infrastructure, security, identity, and foundational platforms that enable product teams to move fast while maintaining world‑class reliability and performance. You’ll manage a team of 15‑20 engineers across multiple domains, balancing technical vision with people leadership to build the foundation that makes Gamma possible.

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll drive technical excellence across infrastructure, identity, security, and app platform teams. You’ll own the technical roadmap for systems that serve millions daily, partner with product engineering and leadership to enable rapid feature delivery, and establish operational excellence practices including incident response and system observability. You’ll balance competing priorities across scaling, security, and developer experience while building and mentoring a world‑class team.

Our team has a strong in‑office culture and works in person 4–5 days per week in San Francisco. We love working together to stay creative and connected, with flexibility to work from home when focus matters most.

What you’ll do

• Lead and mentor a team of 15‑20 platform engineers across infrastructure, identity, security, and app platform domains
• Guide senior and staff engineers in making strategic technical decisions about architecture, scalability, security, and reliability
• Own the technical roadmap for platform systems including AWS infrastructure, identity and authentication, security tooling, and developer platform capabilities
• Drive platform engineering hiring and onboarding, collaborating with recruiting and leadership to build world‑class teams
• Establish operational excellence practices including incident response, on‑call rotations, SLAs, and system observability
• Champion security‑first thinking and compliance requirements (SOC 2, GDPR) across the engineering organization

What you’ll bring

• 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, backend systems, or security, with deep proficiency in AWS, distributed systems, and authentication systems
• 4+ years managing and developing engineering teams, with experience leading teams across multiple technical domains or managing managers
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS), identity and authentication systems, security engineering, and observability
• Strong knowledge of security best practices, compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001), and building secure‑by‑default systems
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex infrastructure and security concepts to product teams and leadership
• Demonstrated track record delivering complex infrastructure migrations, security initiatives, and platform improvements while maintaining reliability
• Experience managing platform teams at high‑growth SaaS companies (100M+ users) (Nice to have)
• Background leading security engineering or trust & safety teams (Nice to have)
• Experience with identity platforms (AWS Cognito, WorkOS, Auth0, Okta) and OAuth/SSO implementations (Nice to have)
• Track record of successful large‑scale infrastructure migrations (Nice to have)

Compensation range

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to experience and expertise in the requirements listed above.
