Access Control Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:The Access Control Specialist is responsible for mechanical keying systems in addition to installing and servicing electric strikes, magna-locks, motion detectors, card readers, power supplies, circuit breakers, solenoids, transmitter wall switches, automatic door openers and controls, panic bars, door closers, and digital entry systems.JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Direct ResponsibilitiesResponsible for specifying and installing electronic access systems to include card readers, cable installations, power supplies and related electronic hardware. This includes collaborating with end user, One Card office and URPD to ensure compliance, safety and University standards are met.Performs skilled locksmith work by installing and maintaining different types of building locks including cylindrical, mortise, panic hardware, door closers and digital access systems.Assists in maintaining Master Key Systems for University security by keeping accurate records of hardware changes and new lock installations in each building.Provides assistance during renovation of existing or construction of new facilities by determining the requirements for locking devices and systems from blueprints, schematics or sketches, making recommendations for such systems based upon knowledge of available products, and installing or monitoring the installation of locking devices or systems on renovated or newly constructed facilities.Maintains security of lock shop to include key management software and maintains adequate stock of equipment inventory as needed.Assist in maintaining compliance in relation to university policy as it pertains to departmental key audits, departmental record keeping and inspection of lock boxes.WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:Will be exposed to loud noise (equipment) and product fumes (stains, paints, etc.) in the shop or on work sites.Must be able to lift 50 pounds.Physical capable of working while bending, stooping, kneeling.Capable of working in all types of weather conditions such as rain, flooding, snow, ice, hot and cold temperatures.All Facilities employees are expected to exercise behavior in accordance with the University policies as well as with the Facilities Mission and Statement of Core Values.All Facilities employees are expected to comply with safety standards and demonstrate safe work habits.QUALIFICATIONS:Required ability to install and repair card access and electronic lock systems.Preferred knowledge of various master key system.Must demonstrate confidentiality as necessary.Required knowledge of the safe use and operation of hand and power tools while following safety guidelines.REQUIRED: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or GED.Minimum of five years' experience working with access control in an institutional or commercial setting.WORK HOURS:Full-Time; non-exempt positionMonday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; 8 hours a day; 40 hours per week; flexibility required.All Facilities employees are designated as essential personnel and are also subject to work outside the normal work schedule on an emergency basis and are also subject to planned overtime work as required by the supervisor.PAY STRUCTURE:Grade 5 Hourly ($21.09 to $27.95 per hour) #J-18808-Ljbffr
