Business Analyst

Everforth ECS is seeking a Business Analyst to work in our Stafford, VA office. The ECS Team provides focused agile software development and maintenance for CODIS, a mission‑critical application for the FBI. CODIS is a client‑server application built on Microsoft .NET that supports a database repository of DNA profiles from individuals, unsolved crime‑scene evidence, and missing persons. The software allows laboratories to compare DNA profiles electronically, linking serial crimes and identifying suspects by matching DNA from crime scenes to individuals’ profiles. CODIS also aids in identifying unidentified human remains, missing persons, and disaster victims. The Business Analyst will support the DMSS program by providing business analysis expertise to a Scrum Team tasked with delivering functional enhancements to the CODIS system. Responsibilities Decompose functional requirements into appropriate scrum units (e.g., epics, features, user stories) Develop acceptance test criteria to fully validate delivered functionality Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and improve agile practices throughout iterative releases Collaborate with other teams to assess how CODIS system changes affect development and testing efforts Interact with stakeholders—including CODIS PMO, the Scrum development team, infrastructure managers, and SMEs—to understand and document user needs Coordinate monthly/sprint reporting and communication Develop or modify moderately complex documentation to meet all CDRL requirements Participate in quality management activities Support software testing, including executing test scripts Support continuous innovation by implementing best practices to improve technology tools and processes, increasing team efficiency and technical execution Required Skills Must have an active Secret or Top Secret clearance 3+ years analyzing and documenting complex software applications Experience maintaining a backlog for an Agile/Scrum team Experience collaborating with customer representatives, program management, and quality managers to define and document requirements incrementally Experience decomposing features into user stories Experience writing acceptance criteria for user stories to define system functionality Demonstrated multitasking ability, problem‑solving skills, and a consistent record of on‑time delivery and customer service Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to translate complex technical concepts into plain English Experience with JIRA Desired Skills Working knowledge of Microsoft products including SharePoint and Word Ability to develop and document requirements Ability to conduct product demonstrations to clients in large group settings Experience in Agile SDLC, continuous integration, and continuous deployment ECS Federal LLC is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate or allow discrimination on the basis of any characteristic protected by law.
