Summary of Responsibilities:

\n

A Corporate Banking Associate is a member of a client-facing team within BBVA’s Corporate & Investment Banking division. The Associate’s primary responsibility is to support Relationship Managers in developing, marketing, and delivering the bank’s wide range of products and services to corporate clients, primarily within the Construction and Real Estate sectors. The Associate will coordinate closely with Relationship Managers and product partners across the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia to support transaction execution, including proposal preparation and liaising with Risk, Portfolio Management, Legal, Operations, and Finance teams.

Major/Essential Job Duties:

\n

Marketing and Deal Execution

\n

\n
• Identify and understand client needs, promptly responding to all client requests.
\n
• Coordinate transaction closings, including management of all documentation and follow-up.
\n
• Prepare for client meetings, including presentation materials, background information and call plans.
\n
• Research and evaluate potential new client relationships.
\n

Risk/Reward Analysis and Decisions

\n

\n
• Prepare transaction summaries and Risk-Adjusted-Return analysis for presentation to Credit Committee, including financial metrics such as pro-forma financial statements and cash flow projections, risk and mitigants, SWOT analysis, etc.
\n
• Analyze global relationships, gathering credit facility and revenue data from BBVA subsidiaries, especially those in Latin America.
\n
• Participate in Credit Committees jointly with Relationship Managers.
\n

Internal Coordination and Problem Solving

\n

\n
• Conduct joint planning sessions with Product teams including Debt Capital Markets, Bank Syndications, Corporate Lending, Foreign Exchange, Cash Management, and the various teams in Europe, Latin America and Asia.
\n
• Coordinate internal procedures with the Credit, Operational and Legal departments.
\n
• Resolve any financial, administrative and operational issues by working closely with Operations, Middle Office and Business Development.
\n

Information Management and Reporting

\n

\n
• Perform research and summarize opinions of major equity analysts on products, industries, countries, and economic forecasts.
\n
• Ensure integrity of domestic/global profitability information gathering for internal team reporting.
\n
• Maintain the Customer Relationship Management system for pipeline and profitability reporting.
\n

Level of Complexity and Risk Involved:

\n

\n
• The Associate position requires a high level of involvement and responsibility. Associates are responsible for a substantial amount of in-depth analysis and research and play a crucial role in deal execution and interaction with clients, especially as it relates to opportunities in Latin America and Europe.
\n
• For the clients and workstreams they support, Associates play a relevant role in identifying business opportunities that are in line with the capabilities and product and service offerings of the bank.
\n

Scope of Duties:

\n

Associates play a critical and indispensable role as members of the Corporate Banking team. Associates support Global Relationship Managers in day-to-day activities, from client and industry analysis to working on live transactions and deal execution. Associates are also expected and encouraged to interact daily with product partners to enhance internal communication and accomplish deliverables.

\n

\n

• Ability to interact and communicate effectively in English and Spanish (preferred but not required) with internal and external clients.

• Strong knowledge of finance and accounting.

• Ability to meet deadlines and prepare client presentations on time and with minimum errors (high attention to detail).

• Successful interaction with the various product groups and colleagues in the USA and abroad.

• Ability to work under pressure.
\n
• Develop solid knowledge of corporate banking products and services in the USA as well as transactional banking products and services in Latin America.

• Strong work ethic and high degree of proactiveness.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities/Competencies:

\n

Technical Skills:

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree with 4 years minimum of work experience; MBA (preferred but not required).
\n
• Fluency in English and Spanish (preferred but not required).
\n
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
\n
• Interest in and/or knowledge of the Construction and Real Estate sectors is highly valued. Prior experience in either sector is preferred but not required.
\n
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and AI-enabled tools to support analysis, research, content preparation, and day-to-day efficiency; Reuters and Bloomberg a plus
\n
• Understanding of international economics and markets, especially Spain and Latin America.
\n
• Credit Training a plus.
\n

Management Responsibilities:

\n

Associates work with various senior bankers and support corporate clients across industries, with the majority of their responsibilities focused on Construction and Real Estate clients. Each Associate supports assigned client relationships while collaborating on other client and transaction activities as business needs require.

\n

\n

Associates are expected to develop strong knowledge of the industries and clients they support, take ownership of assigned workstreams and client-related responsibilities, and proactively identify and follow up on potential business opportunities.

\n

\n

While the position is primarily focused on Construction and Real Estate, Associates may also support clients and assignments in other industries.

\n

\n

\n

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $120,000 to $140,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
