Low Voltage Cabling Design Engineer, Network Infrastructure Design & Deployment

We are currently expanding our Network Infrastructure Design & Deployment (NIDD) team within Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) and are looking for a proven subject matter expert (SME) with experience in designing and planning copper and fiber network solutions, cabling pathways and vision to take AWS Data Centers to the next level.The successful candidate for this role will create detailed pathway and cabling designs, drive process improvements and adhere to industry and AWS specific standards.The mission of the team is to deliver network capacity on time with zero rework. The Network design and planning SME will manage the planning phase of cable pathways and passive network solutions. This role will be based out of a corporate office and remote sites; international and domestic travel may be required up to 25% of the time.This position requires that the candidate selected be a US citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.Key job responsibilitiesIn this role, you’ll work with engineers and managers company-wide to develop solutions for the physical layer. Your responsibilities will include developing pathway, space, and cabling designs, along with specifications for construction and permitting.Additionally, you’ll engage with industry suppliers and manufacturers to define product requirements and explore emerging technologies.- Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic & copper plant designs and specifications.- Review and approve of ICT pathway, cabling and equipment submittals.- Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively.- Support new technology and design activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time.- Travel 20+% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS' Data Centers- Conduct quality assurance audits at project sites, collaborate with project managers and contractors, and implement corrective actions to resolve issues.A day in the lifeAWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. Basic qualifications- Knowledge of critical data center equipment- 5+ years of data center or mission critical facilities (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.) experience- Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines, or experience in a fast-paced, high-tech company- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience using strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills- 5+ years' experience developing design documentation (plans, specifications, etc.) for construction and/or permitting- 5+ years working experience with fiber optic components, cabling, and interconnect products, technologies, and standards- 5+ years' experience marking building design sets using Bluebeam Revu or similar software for construction and permitting purposePreferred qualification - BICSI RCDD Certification or internationally recognized equivalent (e.g. CDCDP, DCDC, etc.)- Ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs while maintaining or improving quality, reliability, or maintainabilityAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
