Ophthalmic Imager 1 (OI1)

The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, has an exciting full time opportunity for an Ophthalmic Imager 1 (OI1) in Miami, Florida. Ophthalmic Imager 1 (OI1) is competent in the theory, principles, and practice of eye care. OI1 documents in the EMR system and performs ocular diagnostic testing using specialized instrumentation in compliance with department standards. Ophthalmic Imager 1 performs supervised ocular diagnostic testing using specialty-specific imaging instruments, documents procedures, and uploads images into the electronic medical record.

Core Job Functions:

• Performs diagnostic testing including but not limited to the below.
• Color fundus photography
• Fluorescein angiography
• ICG (Indocyanine Green) angiography
• Optical coherence tomography
• Automated & manual perimetry
• Slit lamp photography
• External photography
• Ocular motility photography

Responsibilities:

• Provides patient-centric care.
• Adheres to University of Miami policies, standards, and values.
• Compliance with regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Follows best practices of patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control.
• Completes the University of Miami mandatory in-services and online training.
• Attends educational courses for ophthalmic personnel when assigned.
• Demonstrates high quality of work through accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness.
• Meets daily productivity goals.
• Performs organization duties as designated.
• Ensures all equipment is calibrated, and instrumentation is in proper working order.
• Organize and stock rooms for daily clinical activities.
• Travels to satellite eye centers when necessary.
• Works evenings and weekends as needed.

Core Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification and Licensing: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) OCT-C (Certified Optical Coherence Tomography) or COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
