About this job:

Assesses and treats District students with language, pragmatics, articulation, functional communication, voice, and fluency disorders that impact educational learning. Works as part of the Special Education Team, identifying and serving students who may be eligible for Special Education Services in schools across all grade levels.

Denver Public Schools SLPs must be willing and able to work at any school across the district, as well as in any of DPS's partner facilities. Assignments are based on student needs, and SLP assignment preferences are considered when possible.

What You'll Do:

• Utilize current assessment instruments to determine students' skills and abilities in the areas of language, pragmatics, articulation, functional communication, voice, and fluency; provide interventions appropriate to each student's age and learning needs.
• Gather and organize information to develop educationally based Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure educational relevance when assessing and delivering services.
• Implement Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) initiatives.
• Employ a continuum of service delivery models in the least restrictive environment for students with disabilities.
• Follow compliance requirements related to federal and state mandates, as well as local policies, including IEP development, Medicaid billing, report writing, and treatment plan and therapy log documentation.
• Communicate evaluation results at meetings and interpret assessments.
• Use data-based decision-making practices, including gathering and interpreting student data to monitor progress and support student outcomes.
• Participate in extra-duty activities as outlined in the teachers' collective bargaining agreement (e.g., coaching, tutoring, summer programs), in accordance with Department of Labor laws.

What You'll Need:

• Have a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
• Current Colorado Department of Education Special Service Provider License - Speech Language Pathologist.
• 2+ years of experience with speech language and communication assessments used for students eligible for special education.
• School experience preferred but not required.
• Augmentative and Assistive Technology experience preferred but not required.
• Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
• Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
• Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
