Job Summary Conductsdiagnostic assessments as the lead interventionist, provides therapy for aminimum of 10 infant, toddler, and preschool children with communication anddevelopmental disorders, in a center classroom, home, or community basedsetting as part of a transdisciplinary team. Provides supervision to teacher assistants and university students on aregular basis. Additionally, the Speech Language Pathologist maintainsappropriate documentation and performs Part C and Part B assessments andeligibility determinations, report write-ups, and IFSP and IEP goal andobjective writing with the therapy team. This position is for The Children's Center for Communication and Development. Primary Job Duties Provides intervention for a minimum of 10 children with moderate-severe communication and developmental disabilities in the center, home, and community based settings while supervising university students and teacher assistants. Conducts comprehensiveassessments, participates in early intervention team, and completesreports as the lead interventionist. Assists with Child Find Activities. Maintains appropriatedocumentation for Mississippi Department of Education and MississippiDepartment of Health eligibility rulings for students with disabilities inneed of intervention. Develops Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students on her/hiscaseload and supports staff in doing so for all children enrolled. Determines need forExtended School Year (ESY) services and assists with ESY planning andimplementation in the summer. Conducts conferences andworkshops with colleagues, university students and parents/guardians ofstudents served. Participates infundraising and awareness activities to bolster support for The Centercommunity and state-wide. Performs other duties asassigned. Minimum Qualifications Master’sdegree in Speech Language Pathology or Communication Science Disorders from an accreditedcollege or university; Four years minimum experience in speech-languagetherapy; Must hold State certification from the Mississippi Department ofEducation. Must hold Certificate ofClinical Competence or be eligible for Clinical Fellowship Year. Must hold Mississippi State Board of HealthLicense. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Adeptin Microsoft Office Excellentwritten and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate withall groups of individuals Excellentorganization and time management skills. Detail-oriented Abilityto communicate and interact effectively with all groups of people. Abilityto analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines Abilityto review work for accuracy Skillin completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail Skillin writing reports, corresponding with staff and families appropriately,and reviewing and writing procedural manuals. Abilityto effectively present information and respond to questions appropriatelyfrom groups of managers, staff, families, and the general public. Abilityto travel for providing treatment in a child’s natural environment (i.e.home or daycares). Preferred Qualifications Pediatric,transdisciplinary (i.e., previously worked closely with pediatric therapistsfrom other disciplines as part of a clinical team) Certificates, Licenses and Registrations Must hold or be willing to obtain state certification from theMississippi Department of Education, Certificate of Clinical Competence or be eligible for ClinicalFellowship Year, and MississippiState Board of Health License. Must be willing to acquire additional professional endorsements specific to the needs of the birth to 5 population within the first year of employment.
