JOB TITLE: Medical Director Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Status: Exempt Reports to: Chief Executive Officer JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Director is the lead clinician overseeing all aspects of patient care services provided by Spectra Health. This position works with the leadership team to ensure that Spectra Health is meeting clinical requirements as set forth by the Bureau of Primary Health Care. The Medical Director ensures that Spectra Health patients have adequate access to integrated health care services and provides oversight of the quality improvement program and the peer review process. This position also supervises the employee health and respiratory protection programs for the agency. The Medical Director reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Organizational Duties And Responsibilities Review and comply with regulatory standards. Attend mandatory trainings and attend at least 80% of departmental meetings. Adhere to all Spectra Health's policies and procedures and serves as a departmental champion of Spectra Health's Compliance Program activities. Essential Job Functions Provide patient care at least 50% of the time as a clinician at Spectra Health, fulfilling job functions and responsibilities of the specific role in which they are credentialed and appointed at Spectra Health. Facilitate the implementation of clinical services based on needs assessment and patient demographics; including program development. Collaborate with the integrated health care team to ensure the provision of high-quality patient care. Supervise clinic providers in primary care and chiropractic clinics. This includes ensuring mentorship for new hires and ongoing performance evaluation. Supervise Medical Clinic Manager, Medical Clinic Provider Lead, Director of Dental Operations and Integrated Care Director. Review and recommend job descriptions, credentialing and evaluation standards and provide input for performance evaluations of clinical personnel as requested. Oversee the quality improvement program in collaboration with the Chief Strategy Officer. Work closely with leadership team to: regularly define and monitor clinic performance and productivity, and act when needed, to improve performance and productivity. ensure agency compliance with applicable regulatory and licensing agencies. Provide strategic input to planning and evaluation processes for the organization. Acts as a liaison between Spectra Health and the health care community Performs related work as required or as delegated by the Chief Executive Officer. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Board certified APRN, MD or PA with valid licenses in jurisdiction of the clinic. Graduate of an accredited medical school or nurse practitioner program. Minimum of three (3) years of practice experience with clinical management experience. Prior experience working with diverse population groups. Strong leadership skills with a clear vision in leading clinical teams Preferred For APRN: Doctoral degree in nursing or related field Experience working in an FQHC and/or an integrated behavioral health care setting. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a clinical setting and requires some hands-on patient care. OSHA category: High risk. Job requires performance of tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Medical Director is a position that exists in both an office setting and a clinical one. When in the office setting the job requires the ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk or workstation. When in a clinical setting there would be long periods of time on one's feet, standing and moving throughout the clinical environment. Periodically, the position requires lifting or carrying items that would be appropriate in an office environment, not more than 20 pounds. Hearing, speech and sight, including ability to identify and distinguish colors are essential to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
