Job Details Full Time. Schedule: Wed/Thurs 7:00 am – 7:00 pm, Fri 7:00 am – 4:30 pm, Sat 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. Job Description The Mammography Technologist performs mammography exams, screenings, diagnostic studies, and assists during invasive procedures. Under the direction of a physician, the technologist detects breast tissue abnormalities and presents findings for diagnosis. The technologist delivers patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures. Essential Functions Interacts with co‑workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Operates mammography equipment and performs various examinations to produce radiographic images for clinical screening and diagnostic purposes. Ensures successful procedure by positioning the patient, instructing the patient, and adjusting compression mechanisms and equipment controls to set exposure factors. Provides staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards. Documents patient mammogram services by completing patient record charting. Obtains complete and accurate history and delivers care and support services to clients before, during and after procedures. Ensures operation of equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, and maintaining equipment inventories. Performs other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including quality assurance and control tasks. Maintains continuing education required for licenses and job performance. Other duties as assigned. Competencies Knowledge of mammographic imaging techniques and procedures, ability to produce diagnostic images for early detection of breast diseases, and ability to prepare patients, monitor reactions, and respond to emergent situations with appropriate measures. Education and Experience Graduate of a recognized School of Radiology Sciences. Mammography Technologists qualifying on or after April 28, 1999 must have at least 40 hours of documented mammography training and training in digital mammography. On‑the‑job training program requirement: 3‑month competency and didactic program, with an additional 5 months to attain (M) certification. Experience: 6 months to 1 year preferred. Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification ARRT certification in radiography ARRT advanced certification in Mammography FDA/MQSA qualification, including at least 15 CEU’s in a 36‑month period (Mammography specific preferred) IV certification as required for contrast agent administration Travel and Training May require travel between Jefferson sites. This position may be eligible for conversion to a Trainee role (must be a graduate of a recognized School of Radiology). Trainee opportunities are evaluated on a case‑by‑case basis and require signing an on‑the‑job training agreement. All required certifications must be obtained according to the department’s training program requirements; failure to meet these may result in termination.
