Position Summary CT State Community College provides a wide range of educational programs and makes these available to the diverse population of the state. Some students and potential students have disabilities that make their participation in higher education more difficult than for students without these limitations. In order to facilitate and accommodate the full range of students, the College will coordinate classroom accessibility for students with disabilities and arrange reasonable accommodation services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Under the direction of a Dean, Learning Disabilities Specialist, or other Administrator, the Student Accessibility/Disability Services Associate is accountable for contributing to successful learning experiences for students through effective performance in these essential functional areas: Delivery of accessibility services Academic coaching Test proctoring and workshops Administrative office support Additional responsibilities include: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies Service on assigned committees and task forces Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings which may occur during evenings and weekends. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, or an appropriately related field with one (1) or more years of related experience or a combination of education, training, and experience that would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience with academic accommodations for students with documented disabilities Laws and regulations applying to students with special needs Assessment and diagnostic testing methods and instruments Advising students with special needs Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) Preferred Qualifications One (1) to four (4) years of experience working with students with disabilities in higher education or open‑access institutions. Knowledge of disability law, accessibility best practices, and implementation of academic accommodations in a postsecondary setting, including coordination of testing accommodations and exam proctoring. Demonstrated experience providing academic coaching or learning support to college students, including helping students develop skills in organization, time management, self‑advocacy, study strategies, and overcoming academic barriers. Experience collaborating with faculty and academic departments to support student success, including providing in‑class academic coaching, supporting students in learning environments, and consulting on accommodations and inclusive instructional practices.
