Floater/Medical Transport Direct Support Professional (Residential Services) Lafayette/Rayne LALafayette, LA (Residential Program) - Lafayette, LA 70506About the RoleAs a Residential Floater/Medical Transport Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Arc of Acadiana, your primary responsibility will be transporting participants to medical appointments throughout the Rayne and Lafayette service areas. You will help participants arrive safely and on time, remain with them during appointments, communicate relevant information, and complete required documentation.This is a full-time position guaranteed a minimum of 32 hours per week. The position may require up to 40 or more hours per week based on appointment schedules, staffing, and operational needs.When not providing medical transportation, you will work as a DSP in assigned Community Group Homes. You must be available to work at least one residential DSP shift per week and may be assigned additional shifts depending on the medical appointment schedule and program needs. Flexibility to work any shift and provide coverage at any home within the assigned service area is essential.Starting Pay Rate$13.00 per hour, including a $0.50 per-hour differential in recognition of the position's scheduling flexibility, assigned on-call responsibilities, and coverage expectations.ScheduleMedical transportation is generally scheduled Monday through Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Hours will vary based on appointment times, including early-morning laboratory visits.Residential coverage in the Rayne and Lafayette service areas may include 12-hour day or night shifts. Weekend, holiday, on-call, and additional coverage may be required based on operational needs.What You'll DoMedical Transportation & Appointment SupportSafely transport participants to and from medical, dental, therapy, laboratory, and other healthcare appointments.Review appointment information and ensure required documents, identification, and medical information are available before departure.Assist participants with entering and exiting vehicles and healthcare facilities.Remain with participants and provide appropriate supervision and support throughout appointments.Communicate relevant information to healthcare providers within the scope of the position.Obtain appointment summaries, instructions, prescriptions, and follow-up information as directed.Promptly communicate appointment outcomes and concerns to the Program Manager, nursing staff, or other appropriate personnel.Complete required transportation, mileage, appointment, and participant documentation accurately and on time.Conduct required vehicle checks and promptly report safety or maintenance concerns.Residential DSP CoverageAssist participants with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, mobility, personal hygiene, and other activities of daily living.Encourage independence, personal choice, and participation while providing appropriate supervision.Assist with medication administration after completing required training and certification.Observe participants for changes in health, behavior, or condition and report concerns promptly.Assist with meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe and orderly home.Complete progress notes, logs, shift reports, incident reports, and other required documentation.Remain awake, alert, and with participants throughout assigned shifts.Follow safety procedures, emergency protocols, individual support plans, and agency policies.Teamwork & Professional ConductReport directly to the Program Manager, who will coordinate schedules, hours, assignments, and productivity.Follow site-specific direction from the Home Manager while assigned to a Community Group Home.Communicate respectfully and professionally with participants, families, healthcare providers, coworkers, and community partners.Maintain the confidentiality of participant and agency information.Attend required meetings, training, and in-service education.Remain flexible and responsive to changing appointment and staffing needs.Training & Support You'll ReceiveRequired safety, transportation, and residential training.Certified Medication Administration training within six months of hire and support with state testing.Ongoing guidance and support from the Program Manager and residential leadership.What We're Looking ForHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Previous direct-support, caregiving, transportation, or residential experience preferred but not required.Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable driving record, and be eligible for coverage under Arc of Acadiana's automobile insurance policy.Comfortable operating agency vehicles, including vans.Dependable, compassionate, organized, and able to work independently.Able to follow instructions, communicate clearly, and use good judgment.Able to manage appointment schedules and complete accurate documentation.Available for early mornings, varying shifts, weekends, holidays, assigned on-call coverage, and schedule changes based on program needs.Benefits & What We OfferGuaranteed minimum of 32 hours per week.Medical, dental, and vision insurance for eligible employees.Paid time off and sick time.Retirement plan options for eligible employees.Employee assistance and wellness resources.Ongoing training and opportunities for growth.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist participants with mobility and daily activities.Ability to safely assist participants entering and exiting vehicles.Ability to remain awake and alert during assigned shifts.Ability to respond promptly and appropriately during emergencies.Work EnvironmentFrequent travel throughout the Rayne and Lafayette service areas.Medical offices, healthcare facilities, community settings, and Community Group Homes.Direct interaction with participants requiring varying levels of supervision and support.Flexible scheduling based on appointment, staffing, and operational needs.
