Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and nutritional guidelines.
• Ensure all food is handled, stored, and served in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including equipment and workstations.
• Assist in inventory management by monitoring supplies and reporting shortages or waste.
• Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate meal service and accommodate special dietary requests.

Minimum Qualifications

• Proven experience in food preparation and cooking in a professional or institutional setting.
• Ability to speak and understand English to follow instructions and communicate with team members.
• Demonstrated manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform kitchen tasks efficiently.
• Capability to stand for extended periods during meal preparation and service.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards applicable to school food service.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in food safety or a related culinary program.
• Experience working in a school or institutional food service environment.
• Familiarity with special dietary needs such as allergies, vegetarian, or culturally specific meals.
• Basic skills in inventory and kitchen supply management.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

• 2 years previous experience in a school food service setting preferred
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
• Able to follow supervisors direction and lead a small team
• Strong communication skills with employees and client
• Able to follow spoken and written directions
• Ability to prioritize, plan and use time efficiently
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods of time
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality when dealing with student, staff, and/or parent information
• ServSafe Certificate preferred
• Criminal background check required
