Growing together.Location: RemoteYou'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Position SummaryThe Network Engineering team is seeking a Sr Network Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and operational integration of legacy network environments. In this role, you will collaborate across functional teams to ensure seamless integration and minimal business disruption during mergers and acquisitions. You will leverage enterprise-approved AI tools and modern automation to streamline operational workflows, troubleshoot legacy infrastructure, maintain security compliance, and mentor junior engineering talent.Primary ResponsibilitiesUse enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvementEvaluate emerging trends to inform solution design and strategic innovationLead the design and implementation of network infrastructure for legacy environment integrationCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and minimal business disruptionMaintain and troubleshoot legacy network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless systemProvide 24/7 on-call support for critical infrastructure and participate in incident responseEnforce consistent network standards and ensure compliance with security policiesSupport vulnerability management and lifecycle planning for legacy platformsCreate and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and proceduresAssist in cost estimation and budgeting for technology refreshes and migrationsAct as a functional subject matter expert (SME) and mentor to junior engineersCommunicate technical requirements and solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications5+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on M&A integration5+ years of experience with Routing & Switching protocols (like, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)5+ years of experience supporting enterprise wireless networks (Wi-Fi, WLAN)3+ years of experience with network security technologies including firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto), VPNs, and IDS/IPSPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or 4+ years of equivalent network engineering experience)Experience with network automation and scripting using Python or AnsibleCCNP certification or equivalent practical network engineering experienceExperience with cloud and virtualization technologies (SD-WAN, AWS, Azure)Experience using network monitoring and management tools (SolarWinds, Cisco DNAC, Panorama)*All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
