Registered Nurse (RN) Step-Down Unit

If you are passionate about providing intermediate-level care, join us as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Step-Down Unit. In this role, you will care for patients transitioning from intensive care who require close monitoring but not ICU-level support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Continuously monitor patient vitals and conditions, responding promptly to any changes or complications.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement individualized patient care plans effectively.
• Educate patients and families on treatment regimens, recovery processes, and discharge planning.
• Create accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions provided, and outcomes achieved in medical records systems.

Work Environment:

• The role is based in hospital Step-Down Units serving patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and support.
• This position requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, effective communication skills, and the ability to handle dynamic healthcare situations calmly.

Additional Employer Description

21 bed unit with ADC of 20.1 and can provide cardiac and pulse ox monitoring via bedside monitor. Primary patient population is pre- and post-op cardiothoracic surgery patients but the unit also has the capability to care for overflow medical cardiac patients. Ratios: 1:4-5. 12 WEEKEND shifts per contract. REQUIRED ACLS, BCLS and telemetry experience. Minimum of 2 years experience required. Will accept first time traveler with minimum of 2 years experience. Orientation: 24 hours. Scrubs: Navy or white.
