Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineer designs functional, reliable, and cost-effective components and systems for heavy-duty vehicles. This position performs engineering analysis, design and redesign activities, and supports the development and integration of components into new and existing vehicle platforms.

The role works closely with senior engineers, cross-functional engineering teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to evaluate designs, resolve technical issues, and support vehicle development.

• Experience with CATIA or a comparable high-level CAD system .
• Exposure to controls and/or robotics systems .
• Systems engineering experience is highly preferred but not strictly required.
• Experience reviewing and interpreting Finite Element Analysis (FEA) results.
• Experience with vehicle or system routing , including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or other integrated systems.
• Experience with Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) .
• Experience within one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
• Autonomous vehicles or autonomous systems
• Heavy-duty trucks or off-highway vehicles
• Electric vehicles (EV)
• Advanced vehicle systems and integration

Key Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations, investigations, and technical assignments in accordance with company and industry engineering standards and processes.
• Support senior engineers in preparing plans, designs, engineering calculations, analysis methods, and technical reports.
• Support engineering projects of limited complexity while developing increasing technical responsibility.
• Design and evaluate mechanical components and systems for heavy-duty vehicle applications.
• Evaluate designs for performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and integration .
• Prepare and/or direct the preparation of layouts, engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of material (BOMs).
• Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet technical and program requirements.
• Utilize analytical and mathematical methods to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs.
• Review and interpret engineering analysis, including FEA results, to support design decisions.
• Support vehicle and system integration activities, including component placement and system routing.
• Participate in DFMEA and other engineering risk-assessment activities.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, business teams, suppliers, and external resources.
• Maintain effective communication with suppliers and internal and external customers regarding technical issues.
• Ensure proper application of engineering criteria, drawing standards, company policies, and procedures.
• Provide technical assistance to manufacturing and production teams.
• Investigate and resolve engineering issues communicated through verbal or written channels.
• Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
• Communicate project and technical issue status to appropriate stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Internship experience or six (6) or more months of related engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering .
• Experience with CATIA or similar advanced CAD software .
• Mechanical knowledge of automotive, heavy-duty vehicle, off-highway, or related equipment and systems.
• Controls and/or robotics experience.
• Systems engineering or systems integration experience.
• Experience reviewing and interpreting FEA.
• Vehicle or system routing experience.
• DFMEA experience.
• Experience with autonomous, electric, or advanced heavy-vehicle platforms.

Schedule

• Routine shift hours.
• Infrequent overtime, weekend work, or shift rotation may be required.
