Job Title: Sheet Metal Foreman $32-$36/hour plus Overtime

Job Description

The Sheet Metal Foreman leads the installation of square and spiral ductwork, roof top fans, exhaust systems, and related HVAC sheet metal components on a large construction site. This role combines hands-on duct and sheet metal installation with blueprint reading, coordination of field activities, and oversight of quality and safety standards for HVAC and sheet metal work.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform installation of square and spiral ductwork for HVAC systems, including main trunks, branches, and connections.
• Install roof top fans, exhaust fans, and associated sheet metal components in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Oversee and participate in sheet metal fabrication and installation, ensuring accurate measurements, cutting, and assembly based on cut sheets and blueprints.
• Read and interpret construction blueprints and HVAC drawings to plan duct routes, transitions, and equipment locations.
• Coordinate ductwork and sheet metal installation activities on site to meet project schedules and milestones.
• Ensure all HVAC and sheet metal installations comply with applicable codes, safety regulations, and project requirements.
• Guide and support HVAC mechanics, sheet metal mechanics, and tin knockers on proper installation techniques and best practices.
• Inspect completed work for quality, alignment, airtightness, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as needed.
• Maintain a safe work area by enforcing the use of full PPE and adherence to site safety rules and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with site supervision and other trades to resolve conflicts, clarify plans, and maintain smooth workflow.
• Use and review cut sheets to verify materials, dimensions, and fabrication details before installation.
• Troubleshoot installation issues in the field and implement practical solutions to keep work progressing.
• Document work progress as required and report any material, manpower, or schedule concerns to site leadership.

Essential Skills

• 510 years of experience in HVAC ductwork and sheet metal installation, including square and spiral duct systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with duct installation, sheet metal work, and HVAC installation in a construction environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings for HVAC and sheet metal systems.
• Proficiency in installing roof top fans, exhaust fans, and related ductwork and sheet metal components.
• Demonstrated experience as an HVAC mechanic, sheet metal mechanic, or tin knocker with responsibility for field installation.
• Knowledge of fabrication and installation practices for sheet metal, including cutting, fitting, and assembly from cut sheets.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• SST 10 certification.
• Solid understanding of construction site safety practices and the proper use of PPE.

• Experience working on large, multi-story construction projects and coordinating work in active construction zones.
• Ability to lead by example and support a team of installers while maintaining high quality standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills for resolving field installation challenges and layout issues.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with site supervision and other trades.
• Attention to detail in measuring, cutting, and installing ductwork and sheet metal components.

Work Environment

The role is based at a large construction site in Mineola, specifically a major south tower that is still under construction. The workday starts at 6:00 a.m., and you must arrive with full PPE and all required safety certifications. You will work in an active construction environment, coordinating with other trades and navigating partially completed building areas while installing HVAC ductwork, roof top fans, exhaust systems, and sheet metal components.

This is a Contract position based out of Queens, NY.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $43.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Queens,NY.
