Registered Nurse Postpartum

Shifts: Days and Nights Weekend coverage: Required

Assignment Details

• Daily census: ~60 patients
• Unit size: 40 beds

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years postpartum nursing experience
• Labor and Delivery experience and IV start skills required
• EPIC experience required
• Required certifications: BLS; IV certification
• Required clinical skills: IV starts, postpartum care, newborn assessment, breastfeeding instruction, postpartum hemorrhage management, discharge teaching
• Telemetry/EKG: must pass EKG exam before start

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide family-centered care for postpartum patients and their newborns.
• Assess and manage postpartum complications including postpartum hemorrhage and other conditions.
• Conduct newborn assessments and provide basic newborn therapies.
• Educate patients and families on breastfeeding, discharge instructions, and care postpartum.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care.
• Ensure proper IV administration and telemetry monitoring as required.

Compliance / Notes

• Strict compliance deadline: fingerprinting must be completed urgently before the start date.
• Ohio fingerprinting: candidates from outside the state must complete fingerprinting swiftly.
• References: 2 professional references required; at least 1 must be a manager/director.
• RTO required with submission and must be in contract.
• Vaccines: Flu required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required.
