Part Time Pharmacist

Position Overview University Health Services (a division of Student Affairs) is seeking to hire two part‑time pharmacists to work in our on‑campus pharmacy. This position provides professional pharmacy services, including counseling and education to Penn State students, staff, faculty, and retirees. Each position requires a minimum commitment of 16 hours per week. Work schedules are based on business needs and are generally assigned between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday shift (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) as needed to support pharmacy operations. Job Responsibilities Carefully review and fill all prescription orders, including administering immunizations for patients and customers. Advise patients on Drug Utilization Review (DUR), including appropriate dosing, duration of use, drug interactions, allergy warnings, and drug compatibility. Engage in quality assurance activities, reviewing orders for accuracy of input as well as the physical filling of all prescriptions. Evaluate daily business; consider staffing levels and other factors to maintain efficient operations. Communicate in an effective and professional manner with co‑workers, chief pharmacist, prescribers, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and entities. Ensure compliance obligations are met in all aspects of business. Maintain required professional licensures with the PA State Board of Pharmacy, including completion of continuing education hours and training. Maintain accurate records of controlled substance and narcotic inventory and appropriately return expired or unsalable controlled substances to Inmar for credit and proper destruction. Coordinate the pharmacy opening and closing process, ensure all work is completed at the end of the day, prepare the pharmacy for the following day’s business, and verify the physical security of the pharmacy at closing. Qualifications and Requirements Licensed pharmacist in the State of Pennsylvania. Minimum commitment of 16 hours per week. Ability to work early morning or evening and occasional Saturday shifts.
