Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Empower students to reach their full potential by providing specialized support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. In this contract role, you will work closely with students, educators, and families to ensure access to a meaningful and inclusive educational experience.
Key Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or equivalent credentials
- Demonstrated experience working with students who are blind or have low vision
- Strong understanding of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional methods
- Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with staff, students, and families
- Organized, self-motivated, and adaptable in various school settings
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments within school environments
- Assess student needs and tailor educational strategies and materials accordingly
- Utilize braille, low vision devices, and accessible technologies to facilitate student learning
- Collaborate with school teams on the implementation of IEPs and accommodations
- Deliver guidance and training to staff and families to foster understanding and support
- Monitor progress, document outcomes, and adjust interventions as needed
