Facility Maintenance Worker

The UAA Department of Recreation & Intramurals located in the Avis Alaska Sports Complex, is a diverse division designed to assist students in meeting their academic goals and to provide all UAA students the opportunity for physical development on the Anchorage campus.

This is a union represented position. Facility Maintenance workers may be tasked with other duties as assigned. Under supervision, may routinely perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and light duty construction duties in a combination of several trades or crafts such as plumbing; carpentry; painting; and equipment maintenance. The successful candidate may need to provide a copy of complete driving record. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or challenging situations. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and ability to perform routine inspections. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends. Occasionally troubleshoots, analyzes and repairs various types of mechanical, electrical vehicles and related equipment To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as pressures, frequency, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Minimum Qualifications:

May possess journeyman level certification. Requires apprentice level or other equivalent certification appropriate to the specific trade; with a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to obtain and maintain a CPO-Certified Pool Operators Certification. Must have and always maintain a current Alaska Drivers License with a clean record.
