Registered Respiratory Therapist

Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. This position requires defined responsibilities across all patient populations and service areas.

Responsibilities

• Reads prescriptions, measures arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess conditions and determine treatment requirements.
• Determines suitable methods for administering inhalants and observes necessary precautions.
• Evaluates the appropriateness of medical orders and interprets clinical data for optimal patient outcomes.
• Sets up and operates respiratory therapy equipment, including mechanical ventilators and aerosol generators.
• Monitors equipment and patient responses, adjusting settings for effective therapy delivery.
• Performs bronchopulmonary drainage and assists patients in breathing exercises.
• Conducts pulmonary function tests for physician diagnosis and maintains accurate patient charts.
• Transport mechanically ventilated patients and respond to emergency code situations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of a Co ARC approved Respiratory program required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Respiratory Therapy.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT) certification required.
• State Licensure as per local laws.

Schedule

This is a 12-hour rotating shift, working 3 days per week, with guaranteed hours for the contracted duration.
