Analyzes and reports on business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations. Establishes, maintains and coordinates accounting and accounting control policies and procedures.Job DutiesUnderstands the basic principles, theories and concepts related to the profession and learns how to apply them within the ERCOT culture.Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.Contributes to specific objectives and outcomes as directed.Additional Job DutiesPerforms all work according to applicable rules and regulations including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and organization policies and proceduresAssists in maintaining and coordinating accounting control policies and proceduresGenerates timely standard reports such as balance sheets and profit and loss statementsAssists with the monthly and annual close process by completing assigned accounting functions and making appropriate and accurate journal entriesReconciles general ledger accounts in a timely manner and research and reports material reconciling issues to managementMay perform various accounting functions such as fixed assets, inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billingAssists with periodic internal and external audits including the annual external audit of ERCOT financial statementsContributes to accounting system maintenance, upgrade and conversion effortsMaintains regular communication with the management team, providing relevant fiscal information to ensure compliance with all applicable requirementsLevel 2 & 3 - Above +Works on moderately complex accounting issues where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factorsTrains and mentors less experience co-workers assigned by LeadTakes a significant role in preparing for ERCOT's annual financial auditEnsures accurate data in closing the general ledger and subsystems each month and in producing accounting reports for managementDemonstrates skills as a proficient user of client server financial systems, spreadsheet programs, and database programsReviews, records, analyzes, and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, appropriateness and reasonablenessReviews account reconciliations and periodically conduct auditsConducts research and provides accounting guidance related to proposed transactions to ensure appropriate treatmentKey contributor to accounting system upgrades and conversion efforts and maintains relationship with information technology staffMaintains regular communication with the management team, providing relevant fiscal information to ensure compliance with all applicable requirementsBuilds strong professional relationships both internally and externallyRequired ExperienceLevel 1: No minimum work experience requiredLevel 2: Requires minimum 2 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirementsLevel 3: Requires minimum 3 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirementsEducationBachelor's Degree: Accounting, Finance or related field (Required)or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is requiredCertificationCPA Certified Public Accountant (Preferred)Work Location – Austin, TX:Employees will be required to be on-site in Austin, TX at a minimum of 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by managementRemote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the timeExpected Salary Range:$74,000 - $102,000
