JOB TITLE: GENERAL MANAGER

USUAL TIME OF WORK SHIFT: Varies with facility needs. Full-time positions, 40-50 hours per week.

BREAKS: Two breaks, and one ½ hour lunch.

OVERTIME: As necessary

MACHINES USED: General office machines, tools, and equipment, 9-15 passenger automatic transmission-equipped van.

TOOLS USED: General clerical office tools and related items

ASSISTIVE DEVICES: Wheeled Pushcarts

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK PLACE/WORKSTATION: The work takes place at a variety of office locations within a hotel facility. The surfaces at the office locations are level, carpeted, tiled, or have wood flooring. All of the work locations are well-lit and temperature controlled. The General Manager may be exposed for limited periods of time to various weather conditions when ambulating from parking lot to office areas, building to building or other outdoor areas. The position requires the operation of a motor vehicle.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASKS/PURPOSE: Major Function: Manages 2-4 subordinate supervisors which include the Assistant General Manager, Front Desk Supervisor, Housekeeping Supervisor, and Maintenance Supervisor. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises 20-35 nonsupervisory associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Major Functions:

1. Provide the highest quality of service to the customers at all times.

2. Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome.

3. Utilize guest's names in interactions whenever possible.

4. Promptly respond to all guest-related concerns including but not limited to complaints and special requests.

5. Have a thorough knowledge of emergency and security procedures.

6. Know how to clean guestrooms to standards.

7. Know how to perform basic routine maintenance as well as how to properly operate all mechanical units within the guestroom.

8. Know how to operate all laundry equipment.

9. Keep maintenance personnel informed of all maintenance needs.

10. Business attire must be worn at all times in accordance with The Victus Group Inc and your hotel's brand standards.

11. Personal cleanliness and neat appearance are required. Shoes must be low heeled and have heels and toes closed.

12. Practice safety standards at all times.

13. Be able to move miscellaneous items weighing up to 40 lbs. Please inform property management if you are unable to meet this requirement so they can determine if a reasonable accommodation can be made.

14. Associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

15. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may from time to time be established by The Victus Group is essential to the successful performance of this position.

16. Manage and coordinate, according to standard operating procedures, the functional areas of administrative and operational systems including housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, property management, reservations, guest feedback, payroll and human resource systems.

17. Interpret company policies and provide a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with safety programs.

18. Responsible for depositing cash receipts at a specified financial institution on a daily basis.

19. Responsible for all functions of payroll including time clock system operation and reporting.

20. Responsible for reporting all required financial information to The Victus Group corporate office on a daily basis as well as the submission of all month-end paperwork per established policies.

21. Interview applicants. Orient and train new associates. Conduct ongoing training of all associates to increase job knowledge and skill level.

22. Coach and counsel associates to encourage positive behaviors and correct negative behaviors.

23. Ensure all employment activities are conducted in conjunction with established employment law.

24. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly revenue and expense budgets.

25. Consistently monitor our competitor's pricing to ensure our rates are competitive at all times.

26. Process all Workers Compensation related information in a prompt manner consistent with The Victus Group policy.

27. Ensure departmental labor guidelines are met through optimal scheduling and holding associates accountable.

28. Conduct departmental meetings to review new procedures and solicit input from associates. Keep detailed minutes on file.

29. Promote teamwork and associate morale.

30. Interpret job specifications to staff and assign duties.

31. Analyze and resolve work problems or assist associates in solving work problems.

32. Initiate or suggest plans to motivate associates to achieve work-related goals.

33. Monitor hotel uniform standards.

34. Recommend or initiate personnel actions, i.e., promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.

35. Be knowledgeable of associate benefits procedures and administration. Ensure benefits are administered in a timely basis.

36. Strive to achieve or exceed budgeted occupancy both by nurturing guests and repeat business and through regular marketing and sales activity.

37. Promote and nurture a strong working relationship with all corporate departments including Accounting, Purchasing, Payroll, and Sales & Marketing.

38. Develop Assistant General Manager to prepare he/she for a General Manager's position within the organization.

39. Other duties deemed necessary by management and within the Associate's abilities. Associate must adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the company including, but not limited to, those contained in the associate handbook. Must be willing to perform other duties as assigned, of which the associate is capable.

40. Must have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
