Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Production & Materials Planner to support manufacturing operations at a leading commercial vehicle manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas.

This role is responsible for coordinating material requirements, supporting production schedules, monitoring inventory availability, and ensuring materials are available when needed to maintain smooth manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience or education in materials planning, production scheduling, purchasing, inventory management, or supply chain operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and monitor the movement of materials throughout the manufacturing production cycle.

• Review engineering requirements and production schedules to determine material needs.

• Coordinate with purchasing, production, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure timely material availability.

• Monitor material shortages, inventory levels, and production requirements.

• Maintain accurate material records, part numbers, bills of materials, and planning information in enterprise systems.

• Enter, review, and maintain procurement and supply chain data to ensure accuracy and integrity.

• Support purchasing activities and shop order planning to meet production deadlines.

• Identify potential material delays and coordinate with relevant teams to minimize production disruptions.

• Assist with developing material specifications and supporting new procurement orders.

• Maintain accurate documentation and prepare planning updates as required.

• Follow all manufacturing facility safety rules and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet at least one of the following requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field; relevant experience is not required for this pathway.

OR

• At least 2 years of experience in shop order planning, materials planning, purchasing, production planning, or a related manufacturing supply chain function.

Desired Skills

• Understanding of materials planning, production scheduling, and inventory control.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

• Experience with ERP, procurement, or supply chain management systems is beneficial.

• Strong organizational and analytical skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.

• Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a deadline-driven manufacturing environment.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with purchasing, engineering, production, and warehouse teams.
