Job Opportunity – NICU Registered Nurse – West Virginia

Schedule: PM shift (evening position), every other weekend required, 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio, 12-hour orientation provided

Highlights:

• Level II and Level III NICU experience with intermediate to complex neonatal cases including CPAPs, HFNC, RAM cannula, and respiratory support
• Care for neonates 29+ weeks gestational age with conditions including respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal abstinence syndrome, hyperbilirubinemia, and sepsis
• Cerner EMR system with telemetry monitoring on unit
• Interdisciplinary team support including respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
• May float to stepdown NICU unit as needed
• 13-week travel assignment with professional development opportunities

Requirements:

• Active RN license in good standing
• Minimum 3 years of NICU nursing experience required
• Level II and Level III NICU skills competency required
• BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Experience with 1:3 patient ratios preferred
• Proficiency with Cerner charting system required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from facility location
• Ability to complete required lab work within 72 hours of contract signing

Clinical Skills & Patient Care:

• Neonatal patient populations: premature and term infants, including those 29-34 weeks and greater than 34 weeks gestational age
• Feeding support: bottle, breast, and gavage feedings; breastfeeding support and breast milk handling
• Respiratory management: oxygen delivery systems, blood glucose monitoring, thermoregulation
• IV therapy: starting and maintaining IVs, central line care, administration of blood and blood products
• Medication administration: antibiotics/antivirals, anti-seizure medications, neonatal dosage calculations
• Specialized care: neonatal abstinence syndrome, sepsis work-up, phototherapy, developmental care
• Procedures: placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes, phlebotomy, isolation precautions
